Serpentine fieldstone wall

Drystone wall using stones gathered from on-site field clearance piles and Credit Valley sandstone.   Built in a pine grove alongside a long entry lane the wall meanders through the pines providing visual interest and, by keeping its distance from the growing trees, extending the life of the work.

Built in conjunctions with Eric Landman it demonstrates proper dry stone walling techniques with chunky foundation stones, progressively smaller stones as the wall reaches top height, through stones, and vertical cope stones.   The local fieldstone provides interesting shapes and colours that make walking the walls length a new experience with the changing seasons and light.
